Injunction bid against bank has been halted – Kulaksiz 5 residents have been told by the High Court that they were too late to stop Akfinans Bank selling their homes as their application was “time expired”. There is still a case against the Land Registry pending in 3 months time. The argument is that because the 12 bungalows had not been placed on the title deeds the granting of a mortgage was illegal and contrary to the Protection of Human Rights, Article 1. Editor: in effect lawyers for Kulaksiz 5 are saying that, for whatever reason, the TRNC Land Registry have failed to put in place a system which, in a timely manner, recognises the sale of a property and in not doing so purchasers’ rights have been violated.
Drivers may cross border to fill up on fuel, warning – the difference in petrol prices in the north and south is between 3-5 kuruş per litre.
