North Cyprus News - Cyprus Today 13th July 2019

North Cyprus News - Cyprus Today 13th July 2019OK, let’s look back at the North Cyprus News, which is what you do when you read a paper version of the news when you buy Cyprus Today. Most of the articles it contains have been covered elsewhere, even in North Cyprus Free Press.

A daily newspaper has the advantage that its articles are at worse only 24hrs old but a weekly newspaper does not have that advantage. So, what have we got for you this week?

FRONT PAGE

‘BEST SIGNAL’ – [Editor: NCFP article] ‘NORTH Cyprus mobile phone users can now make and receive calls in the South, and Greek Cypriot users in the North, after a long-awaited “roaming” scheme went “live”.

A cross-border link-up of mobile networks, known as interoperability, got under way on Thursday as a confidence-building measure (CBM) and is set to impact on thousands of consumers on both sides of the island.’

Anger at attack on TRNC-bound bus at Larnaca – [Editor: NCFP article] ‘A TRNC number-plated bus carrying 20 North Cyprus-bound tourists was attacked at Larnaca airport and harassed on its journey to the border.

Outrage was triggered by claims that some police at the airport had “just watched” the bus attack at 6.15pm last Friday as it picked up a group of Hungarians to take them to hotels in Bafra. Mirrors of the vehicle were smashed and bottles thrown at it.’

Sick refugees deported – ‘FIFTY-one Syrian refugees were shipped to Turkey in a passenger ferry despite Health Ministry calls to hold off on their deportation for 12 hours after the refugees — including an eight-months-pregnant woman and four children — were diagnosed with scabies, Cyprus Today can reveal.’

I got bored now, hopefully others will add the stories they found interesting in the week’s edition.
