Popular Science News | Malware Spread as Microsoft Update

Popular Science News – hackers have managed to create malware pretending to be a Microsoft update. Malware is software that does something nasty to your computer, including making it unusable unless you pay for software to fix it. This ability to pretend to be a Microsoft update was originally part of Flame Malware which installed itself on government and business computers throughout the Middle East. You are unlikely to be the target of this infection but the fear is that quite soon hackers will start to use the code on malware destined for your computer.

Microsoft has announced that they are going to release an update which will prevent these attacks. My problem with this is that the next time you receive a message saying that you have a Microsoft update to remove this threat, will it be the real thing or will it be malware pretending to be an update?
