North Cyprus Property | Karmi/Robb Auction Revisited

Exactly one year to the day that the Auction, that was scheduled to take place on 6th May 2012, was stopped. We were assured it was only a delay and that it would go ahead in August 2012…it did not. However nothing has been resolved and so the owners are still at the mercy of others. Not knowing is another form of mental torture.

“Karmi/Robb North Cyprus Auction | Postponed until August 2012

Today, the auction that wasn’t took place. Those who worked so hard all Friday afternoon and early evening to ensure that the auction was stopped realised that they would have to attend the venue for the auction to ensure promises made were kept.

When the first person arrived at the Coffee shop she was greeted by the owner who told her, yes indeed there was a notice proving the Auction had been postponed. Pauline Read arrived with the banner and they decided they would tell those supporters who did attend at 10.00 a.m. the official start time. Tell them they did. Pauline addressed the crowd and she assures me that she spoke from the heart, her planned words put to one side. If you wish to know exactly what Pauline said with the able assistance of others, tune into Ada TV at 7.00 p.m TRNC time, 5.00 p.m. UK time. You will have read my account of the trauma that was Friday afternoon and early evening, the events and the effort put in by the others and the victims.

The important news is that the Auction of the Karmi/Robb land has been postponed until August and if the campaigners have their way, a solution will have been found before then.

Pauline tells me it was interesting talking to the people who came to support the victims. One Turkish Cypriot lady told her of a conversation with Talat Kursat. Apparently this lady was a little unsure of purchasing an Aga Development Limited property on Hz Omer site, he allegedly he told her not to worry it was very safe because his son (Akan) was a 51% shareholder in the Aga Company. Subsequently the property they bought had a memorandum put on it allegedly by Fazilet Ozdenefe for a client, interestingly, Ms Ozdenefe is the wife of Akan Kursat. A parallel when you consider Ms Ozdenefe acted for one of the buyers on Kulaksiz 5? Now my maths are somewhat rusty but I know that the shareholding held by Mr Akan Kursat was far less than that of Gary Robb so how could he have been a 51% shareholder?

The Honourable Mr Justice MacKay had many comments to make which throw doubt on the honesty of the Talat Kursat combo in his report of the 30/03/2012 Case No. HQ11X01705 and I have to say, Mr Justice MacKay is not alone in doubting this legal duo. It seems that Gary Robb knew a kindred spirit when he saw one.”

It was interesting to read the comments under the article at the time. It seems some were more worried about having their time wasted or someone’s dogs than the small but significant victory that was enjoyed that day. What was an hour spent showing support worth? To me everything. Seems that some talk the talk, but giving their time? Nowt so queer as folk.

What will happen next? Time will tell but sadly for retired people time is of the essence.
